This intermediate course focuses on you delivering a range of topics via a PowerPoint presentation. Unlike merely giving a book report, you will give presentations that informs and another type to express an opinion or point of view. The 9-steps involved in presenting continue this term as well as other learning material from the book. Book topics include “A Person to Admire,” “A Great Vacation Idea,” “Young People Today,” Let me Explain,” “In my Opinion,” “In the News.” You will organize a topic effectively so you can become a competent and confident presenter. This skill is one of the most important courses you will have as a student because it is such a highly sought after job skill and for career advancement. You will learn how important the listener is to the speaker and how to express clearly and directly what you mean to communicate through words, posture, and gestures. You will be challenged to focus, think, and analyze what and how you want to communicate to your listeners. Being able to demonstrate competence in English presentations with or without using PowerPoint can be a valuable skill in today's increasingly competitive global job market, workplace, graduate school, other areas of professional speaking, and demonstrates to people that you are strong in your communication skills.
